Transparency in Our Business Activities

Our primary goal is to make life-changing, long-term differences in human health and disease management through the products and services we provide. The patients and professionals who rely on our products place their trust in the reliability of our clinical research, the rigor of our scientific publications, the independence of professional education we fund and the integrity of our relationships with health care professionals.

Our companies work to prevent real or perceived conflicts of interest that may arise from relationships between companies and health care professionals. Consistent with our ongoing commitment to ensure ethical and transparent interactions with medical professionals, we regularly review and update our practices that guide interactions with health care professionals, institutions and other stakeholders in the health care system.

Funding to Health Care Professionals

We believe in greater transparency regarding the relationships between health care companies and physicians. We are committed to begin voluntarily disclosing payments made to physicians by its U.S. pharmaceutical and medical device and diagnostics companies.

Johnson & Johnson was one of the first large health care companies to support the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, which was incorporated into the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2009.  On June 30, 2010, our U.S. commericial pharmaceuticals companies began voluntarily disclosing payments made to physicians during the first quarter of 2010.  Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, this type of disclosure is not required until 2013.
