Facilities

At Johnson & Johnson, transparency includes providing a clear picture of the environmental programs and performance of each of our major facilities. We published our first corporate environmental report in 1993 because we believed, and still do, that open and accurate sharing of our environmental performance is critical to all of our stakeholders—customers, shareholders, employees and our communities.

At the end of 2010, 98 percent of all Johnson & Johnson facilities submitted information to be publicly reported. Our mix of facilities is constantly changing through acquisitions and divestitures; new facilities have a grace period before reporting is expected; and facilities that are closing or being sold are excused from further reporting. Of the two percent of our facilities that did not report, most fall into one of these categories.

In addition to our facility reporting, we file annual reports with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and encourage our suppliers to join the CDP's Supply Chain program. At the end of 2010, approximately 90 percent of the suppliers we approached had chosen to participate..
