Johnson & Johnson engages with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders on social, environmental and governance matters, as well as health and health care. We strive to reflect the guidance and wisdom of diverse customer, employee, community and shareholder groups in our actions and in our policies on an ongoing basis, at all levels of our company.
We foster and maintain ties to the communities in which we live and operate, the customers who purchase our products, the doctors, nurses, patients and consumers who use them and our own employees. Each group is unique, with its own concerns, and our interactions with them are just as varied.
We continue to expand the ways in which we obtain feedback from all who use our products and services, including consumers, patients, health care professionals and hospitals. We use a variety of methods, including direct contact, feedback forms, website links, social networking sites, e-mail, conventional mail, customer surveys, market research and customer call centers. Each of our businesses maintains a website with contact information and is accessible from here.
Our Credo survey provides direct insight into employees’ opinions on a variety of issues relative to our business. Each operating company receives its survey results and develops an action plan to address them. Employees have many other means to voice their thoughts and opinions, such as Town Hall and informal meetings, and various online vehicles.
We maintain engagements with a wide range of external organizations from local civic groups to global NGOs, representatives of all members of the health care community, from patients to payers and physicians and governmental and policy leaders. These engagements are not only important to achieving our business goals, but they also help us understand the areas in which our stakeholders believe we can address emerging societal needs.
For example, in 2009-10, our external stakeholders identified six areas where they would like Johnson & Johnson to play a greater leadership role—women’s and children’s health; global health coordination; prevention and wellness; health care education and delivery; development of new medicines and other treatments; and enhancing health care systems. Some ways in which we are addressing these areas can be found here.
We welcome hearing from our shareholders. Shareholder inquiries and proposals are encouraged and should be directed to the attention of the Corporate Secretary at the principal office of the Company, One Johnson & Johnson Plaza, New Brunswick, NJ 08933.
