Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday – a global day dedicated to giving back. Charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
Here at Johnson & Johnson, we are proud of our long legacy of giving back to the communities in which we work and live. We like to think of every day as a day of giving.
Last week, we introduced the world to our Donate A Photo app with a huge event in Times Square. The event was the kickoff to what we hope will be a giving season full of generosity – and we’d like you to join us in making this holiday a meaningful one for families all over the world.
Whether you volunteer at a local food bank, take your children caroling at a nursing home, or send goodies overseas to our military service men and women, each small act of caring matters. There are so many ways to help – ways that you may not even be aware of.
That’s why we’re doing something unique this giving season. We’re devoting a lot of time and space on our websites and social media platforms to share ideas, stories and tools with you on how easy it is to help make a difference. We will introduce you to causes that will move you to take action. We’ll offer tips on how to make giving back a family affair. You’ll hear from some of our employees and how they’re inspired to care.
Each week for the next four weeks, we’ll be shining a spotlight on a different Johnson & Johnson partner that we hope you’ll consider helping this giving season. This week, we’ll be featuring Girl Up. As the United Nations Foundation’s adolescent girl campaign, Girl Up engages girls to take action. Led by a community of nearly half a million passionate advocates raising awareness and funds, Girl Up’s efforts help the hardest to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl.
This week, you’ll learn more about Girl Up, how you can help them make a difference for girls around the world, and how you can instill a spirit of caring in your own teenagers. Be sure to follow our Johnson & Johnson Facebook page or our JNJCares Twitter feed so you don’t miss a beat. An easy way to help right now is by downloading our free Donate A Photo app and sharing one of your photos to benefit Girl Up.
After Girl Up, we’ll be turning our attention to USO, Save the Children, and Operation Smile. There’s a cause to inspire nearly everyone, so we hope you’ll stay with us right up to December 26. We look forward to sharing with you, and to you sharing your generosity, time and talents with the world.
