      Global Mom Relay

Global Mom Relay – the online conversation about motherhood –is moving into its final leg!

Each day, there is a new post from leading voices around the globe. Every time you share a new post on Facebook, Twitter or email, or donate $5 or more as part of the relay, a $5 donation (up to $62,500 per week or $125,000 every two weeks) will be donated by Johnson & Johnson and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Nearly $250,000 has been donated so far by people sharing these stories with their friends and networks. Wow!

Leg 1 of the Global Mom Relay was focused on driving donations to Girl Up Leg 2 supported the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, and Leg 3 has benefitted MAMA – the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action. MAMA aims to inform and empower low-income, expectant mothers who are at risk of complications and death.

Today, we’re sharing some of our favorite Relay posts of the last two weeks. There’s still time to share and donate!

Get Inspired By and Share These Posts from the Global Mom Relay, Leg 3

Read about how Panashe Chipikiri, a 23 year-old South African woman with a new baby, used MAMA’s mobile tools to have a healthy pregnancy and a great start for her child’s life.

Denise Love wrote about the inspirational women in Cambodian villages who are doing amazing things to support each other.

There are heroes everywhere, and a woman named Esther, who lives in Kenya, is one. She is caring for her two grandchildren whose mother died shortly after childbirth. Her struggle represents the struggles of many who bear the consequences of maternal death, and the story is both heartbreaking and inspirational.

Christy Turlington Burns writes brilliantly about how technology – that we take for granted as part of our everyday lives – can make a huge difference in the health and well-being of new and expecting moms in developing countries.

And finally, the Global Mom Relay took a musical twist when Carolyn Miles of Save the Children shared how both music and health care can help kids feel good again – complete with a special edition video by One Republic that will make you feel good, too!

Which is your favorite? We hope you’re moved to share one or more of these posts.
