Since 1988, Johnson & Johnson has been proud to partner with Safe Kids Worldwide®
(Safe Kids). Safe Kids is a global organization dedicated to protecting kids from unintentional injuries, the #1 cause of death to children in the U.S. Around the world, a child dies from an unintentional injury every 30 seconds and nearly 1 million children die due to injuries each year. Safe Kids was founded by Dr. Martin Eichelberger of Children’s National Medical Center with support and sponsorship from Johnson & Johnson. Today, Safe Kids works with an extensive network of more than 400 coalitions in the United States and partners with organizations in 25 countries to reduce injuries and deaths from motor vehicles, sports, drowning, falls, burns, poisonings and other activities.
Together, Johnson & Johnson and Safe Kids continue to work with multiple stakeholders to create awareness of simple safety practices and change behavior. A sampling of the outcomes produced by Safe Kids’ efforts:
A 60 percent decrease in the unintentional injury rate among children 19 years and younger in the United States.
