Changing the Game: Johnson & Johnson Inspires Care as the Official Healthcare Sponsor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™

With its unique ability to unite people of all cultures, ages and socioeconomic levels, the FIFA World Cup™ provides Johnson & Johnson with an unprecedented opportunity to reach a global audience and ignite a movement of caring. Paired with our sponsorship, our company’s CARE INSPIRES CARE™ campaign inspires others to engage in caring activities and celebrates selfless acts of care – big and small – with the goal of making the world a more caring place. Here’s a look at what we have been doing around our sponsorship to inspire care in the weeks and months leading up to the FIFA World Cup™:


The Tour do Carinho (Caring Tour) traveled across Brazil recently, encouraging individuals to celebrate care, educating communities on the importance of blood donations and showcasing how Johnson & Johnson is working in support of a government policy to improve the human aspect of medical care at public hospitals in six host cities.

Tour do Carinho is one of the largest blood donation campaigns Brazil has ever seen. We have exceeded our goal of collecting more than 20,000 bags of blood – a total which could result in saving up to 80,000 lives! Donations were made at blood centers in the 12 host cities and in the Johnson & Johnson Care Bus, which has toured the host cities to collect additional blood donations. While the Tour do Carinho officially concluded in May, we hope it will continue to inspire communities to give blood and help save lives. The FIFA World Cup™ volunteers are integral to the success of the event. To celebrate their extraordinary efforts, Johnson & Johnson will care for and support these 14,000 individuals throughout the tournament. In each host city, Johnson & Johnson will provide volunteers with free screenings to assess their oral and cardiac health, glucose levels and body mass index.

Participants at FIFA’s Fun Day in Belo Horizonte, where FIFA World Cup™ volunteers came together for a day-long tour of the stadium and on-site training.

We will also feature the Johnson & Johnson Official 7 Minute Workout app in the Volunteer Center to encourage healthy exercise habits that can be followed anywhere, anytime. In addition, we will provide all volunteers with backpacks that include Johnson & Johnson products to help them care for themselves. Johnson & Johnson will support a culture of caring in Brazil by providing volunteers with information about local non-profit organizations where they can donate their time after the FIFA World Cup™. And, we are also pleased to celebrate the caring contributions of the volunteers through the Champions of Care program, where 12 volunteers who exhibit extraordinary acts of care for others during the FIFA World Cup™, can win a trip to the FIFA World Cup™ Final Match.
