With $70.1 billion in 2015 sales, Johnson & Johnson, through its family of companies, is the world's most comprehensive and broadly based health care company, with products and services for the consumer, pharmaceutical, and medical device markets.
Strong financial results for 2015 reflected continued sales momentum in many parts of the business driven by a focus on delivering meaningful innovation in health care to patients and customers. Johnson & Johnson has achieved 32 consecutive years of adjusted operational earnings growth* and 53 consecutive years** of dividend increases. Its enduring market leadership in health care is illustrated by the fact that about 70 percent of its sales come from products with No. 1 or No. 2 global market share positions. Approximately 25 percent of sales come from new products introduced in the last five years.
Johnson & Johnson delivered strong results in 2015 driven by the performance of our Pharmaceutical business and iconic Consumer brands. We also advanced our longer-term growth drivers, bringing innovative solutions to the global health care market and executing with excellence.
At the foundation of our business is a fundamental commitment to Our Credo, which was written in 1943 by Robert Wood Johnson, then Chief Executive Officer and son of one of the Company’s founders. Our Credo eloquently defines the common values of our employees and establishes the business values and philosophy that guide all our operating companies worldwide. Our Credo puts patients and customers first, then our employees, our communities and our shareholders.
With Our Credo as a foundation, our long-standing operating model has four strategic principles: being broadly based in human health; managing our business for the long term; taking a decentralized management approach; and focusing on our people and values. In today’s highly competitive global marketplace, it is also essential that we focus on the critical drivers of our future growth: to create value through innovation, to extend our global reach with local focus, to execute with excellence in everything we do, and to inspire leadership with purpose among the people who carry on the Johnson & Johnson legacy.
The Medical Devices segment produces a broad range of innovative products used primarily by health care professionals in the fields of orthopaedics, neurovascular, surgery, vision care, diabetes care, infection prevention, cardiovascular disease, sports medicine, and aesthetics.
The Pharmaceutical segment’s broad portfolio focuses on unmet medical needs across five key therapeutic areas: cardiovascular & metabolism, immunology, infectious diseases and vaccines, neuroscience and pain, and oncology.
The Consumer segment includes a broad range of products used in the baby care, skin care, oral care, and wound care fields, as well as nutritional and OTC pharmaceutical products, and wellness and prevention platforms.
Across all our businesses, the leadership of Johnson & Johnson is looking toward the future with a clear understanding of the challenges and with excitement about the extraordinary opportunities that exist to improve the quality of people's lives around the world.
