Taking on the care crisis
The projected 10 million global shortage of health workers, along with COVID-19 and climate change, has exacerbated the care crisis we’re facing today—half the world’s population does not have access to essential healthcare.
At the United Nations General Assembly, alongside likeminded leaders in global health, we had a clear message: We cannot solve the care crisis without investing in health workers—especially nurses and community health workers.
It’s a crisis none of us can solve alone. That’s why, last week, we were proud to announce that J&J and J&J Foundation are joining USAID to expand support for the Americas Health Corps and its goal to train 500,000 health workers across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Announcing a new collaborative effort with USAID to support the health workforce in Latin America
The work with USAID to support 500,000 health workers across Latin America and the Caribbean will expand the work of Americas Health Corps by leveraging both in-person and digital platforms and technologies to improve health worker training and reach, create career opportunities that support a diverse health work force and help strengthen local institutions to better meet the needs of their communities.

J&J Innovation and Impact Ventures by J&J Foundation invites innovators to submit novel precision neuroscience and digital health approaches that both aim to advance health equity and transform mental healthcare in the United States and beyond (with particular interest in Brazil, India, and Kenya). The innovator(s) with the best potential solutions will receive grant funding from a total of up to $300K. Application deadline is October 11.

SURGhub shortlisted for Digital Innovation of the Year in 2024 THE Awards
The UN Global Surgery Learning Hub curates existing, low-resource context-appropriate high-quality surgical, anaesthetic, obstetric and peri-operative training resources, and makes them available through an innovative open access online platform. There are currently over 7,000 learners from 170 countries engaging with 60 courses on the platform.
