Our responsibility to the planet

As part of the world’s largest healthcare company, we recognise our responsibility – which stretches beyond industry regulations – to sustain natural resources and care for the planet. To do this, we push to continuously reduce our environmental impact and are committed to renewable and clean energy.

A healthy planet and a healthy community go hand in hand, and sustainability is about managing our personal, business and societal impacts to ensure better outcomes for patients and society.

Our commitment to protecting the environment and natural resources is enshrined in Our Credo, the set of values that guide decision-making across our company.

Our Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared in response to the UK Government’s Procurement Policy Note 06/21 and is updated annually. Using climate science as our guide, we are transitioning to renewable electricity and carbon neutrality in our global operations while also working with suppliers to reduce our upstream carbon emissions. We are also proud signatories of the United Nations-backed Race to Zero campaign, with an ambition to reach net zero emissions across our value chain by 2045.
