Dr. Arthur Horwich of Yale School of Medicine and Howard Hughes Medical Institute is the winner of the 2019 Dr. Paul Janssen Award for Biomedical Research, along with Dr. Franz-Ulrich Hartl of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry.

The duo were honored for their groundbreaking insights into chaperone-mediated protein folding. Their research offers hope for thwarting neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Dr. Horwich joined us for a conversation in the coLaboratory during the 2019 BIO Convention.

Champions of Science is a multifaceted initiative to convene and catalyze champions of science, and engage people of all generations and backgrounds to see the unlimited opportunities that science brings.
