Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies Celebrates Spirit Day by Going Purple
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ, October 15, 2015 – Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies will turn more than 20 brand logos purple in support of Spirit Day, a national day devoted to standing up against discrimination and bullying and showing support for LGBT equality.
“Johnson & Johnson is once again proud to stand up against bullying and continue to advocate for LGBT rights,” said Alison Lewis, Chief Marketing Officer, Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies. “Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is deeply rooted in the values instilled by Our Credo and is exemplified in a number of our companies’ programs and activities.”
One program in particular, CARE WITH PRIDETM, launched by Johnson & Johnson in 2012 as a corporate-wide anti-bullying and LGBT equality initiative, has supported and raised funds for PFLAG’s anti-bullying “Safe Schools” program. Last year, The Trevor Project and Family Equality Council were newly added beneficiaries to the program. By the end of 2015, it is projected that CARE WITH PRIDE ™ will have raised more than $750K for LGBT charitable partners since the program’s inception in 2012.
Spirit Day, which will take place this year on October 15, 2015, encourages individuals to wear the color purple in support of standing up against bullying.
GLAAD, an organization that focuses on building LGBT acceptance and cultural change through work done with a variety of media, has been the driving force behind Spirit Day since its inception and has successfully worked to bring the celebration into the national spotlight.
