2016 Dr. Paul Janssen Award honors Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi

This year’s Dr. Paul Janssen Award for Biomedical Research was awarded to Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Dr. Ohsumi was honored for his pioneering discoveries concerning the molecular basis of autophagy—a basic function of all living cells—which holds promise for better understanding, diagnosing and treating many diseases.
