Geographic atrophy (GA), an advanced form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), is a progressive and irreversible condition that leads to permanent loss of central vision. It is the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 65, with an estimated 8 million people living with the disease. Currently, there is no cure.
