Johnson & Johnson statement on Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Helene brought catastrophic flooding and widespread destruction to multiples states in the southeastern U.S. on September 26. The Category 4 storm with strong winds, heavy rains and a destructive storm surge set off flash floods and caused rivers to overflow, washing out roads and bridges and flooding entire communities across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. It also triggered over 2,000 landslides in western North Carolina.

Hurricane Milton made landfall on the west coast of Florida on October 9. The storm and resulting tornadoes damaged homes, flooded neighborhoods and caused power outages for more than 3 million people in Florida.

To aid in immediate recovery efforts, Johnson & Johnson Foundation is making a $500,000 donation to our strategic nonprofit partner, Americares. This funding will be used to provide medicine and medical supplies and restore health services to the affected communities.

To aid in recovery efforts Hurricane Milton, J&JFoundation is doubling its commitment to disaster relief efforts already underway in the region by donating an additional $500,000 to Americares and expanding our global employee match program to include Hurricane Helene and Milton efforts.

J&J Foundation has also been supporting efforts on the ground with hygiene kits and medical support units via Heart to Heart International.

Why helping the helpers is critical to disaster response

Health workers and first responders bear a double burden as survivors themselves, dealing with their own losses while helping their communities recover and rebuild in the aftermath of a disaster.
