At Johnson & Johnson, we are deeply saddened by the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa on people and communities in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
In response, the Johnson & Johnson Foundation is supporting its partners on the ground, Americares and Heart to Heart International, to provide essential medicines to affected communities, distribute nearly 30,000 hygiene kits and support emergency teams providing health and mental health services.
The J&J Foundation is donating $100,000 to Americares to support immediate relief efforts in Jamaica and Haiti. In Jamaica, this funding will help Americares support the local health system by providing primary care services and mental health support for survivors, ensuring clinics and local health workers can meet rising demand, and delivering critical supplies to communities with urgent needs.
J&J employees can take advantage of J&J’s matching gifts policy. Donations to qualified organizations are matched 2:1, effectively tripling their generosity to support those in need.
We are monitoring the situation and will evaluate our response with partners based on developments on the ground.
Our thoughts are with those directly affected by Hurricane Melissa, as well as the brave frontline health workers, community groups involved in disaster relief efforts and all those volunteering in their communities.
