      Timeline

      We are taking a multi-phased approach to identify solutions with the potential to significantly impact health in communities across the country.

      Johnson & Johnson will work with a variety of experts from within and outside the company to ensure that the Health Equity Innovation Challenge application reviews are conducted with diverse, relevant, and balanced perspectives representative of the program cities. Following a rigorous assessment, a select group of top applicants will be identified and notified in February 2024.

      October 2, 2023

      Applications open

      Applications for the Johnson & Johnson Health Equity Innovation Challenge will open on October 2, 2023 for Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia. Learn more about our focus areas and selection criteria.
      November 6, 2023

      Applications close

      Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia applications must be completed and submitted by November 6, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET to be considered.
      Mid-November 2023

      Application shortlisting

      Individuals appointed by Spelman College will help shortlist top submissions from the five Challenge cities for further evaluation by the expert judges.
      Early December 2023

      Expert judge assessment

      An external group of public health and health equity experts within the Challenge cities will analyze and select applicants to participate in pitch sessions.
      January 2024

      Pitch sessions

      Select applicants will be invited to pitch their proposed ideas to expert judges in January 2024.
      February 2024

      Selection of national awardees

      Awardees will be notified by February 2024.

      Submit an idea

      Applications for the Johnson & Johnson Health Equity Innovation Challenge will be open on October 2, 2023 and close on November 6, 2023.
