Joaquin Duato is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson, the world’s most comprehensive healthcare company, with a unique business model that spans both Innovative Medicine and MedTech.
Joaquin became CEO in January 2022 and Chairman in January 2023. Building on 140 years of healthcare innovation, Joaquin has sharpened Johnson & Johnson’s focus to six high-growth areas of significant unmet medical need, and where the Company is uniquely positioned to lead: Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular, Surgery and Vision. The depth and scale of Johnson & Johnson’s portfolio and pipeline is shaping the future of healthcare. Throughout his almost 40-year career at the Company, he’s worked across geographies, functions and business segments, gaining a deep understanding of the role Johnson & Johnson serves in solving health challenges.

A dual citizen of the U.S. and Spain, Joaquin earned a Master of Business Administration from ESADE in Barcelona, Spain, and a Master of International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona. In 2023, King Felipe VI of Spain bestowed upon him the Order of Civil Merit, Commander by Number. More recently, he was honored as the 2025 Business Leader of the Year by the Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce and was appointed as Chair of the New Jersey CEO Council.
